Calmare “Scrambler” technology

The Calmare machine is an FDA-cleared pain therapy device. It provides a noninvasive, drug-free
treatment for chronic neuropathic and oncological pain. It is being utilized in top research hospitals,
cancer centers, military hospitals and private pain clinics worldwide, having successfully treated
thousands of patients.

During the treatment process, the patient’s pain steadily decreases to allow the patient to participate in normal daily activities and resume a better quality of life. In some cases, pain relief is reported in one to three treatments, but each patient’s case is unique, and some patients will experience relief after 5-7 treatments. There is no pain during the therapy and there are no side effects.
  • The Calmare MC-5A device creates a low-energy electrical impulse which travels through the patient’s C-fiber nerves (chronic pain fibers) delivering a “no-pain” signal to the brain using sixteen distinct algorithms.
  • TENS units use high-energy electrical impulses to block pain signals on the A-Delta fiber pathway(acute pain fibers) to distract the brain, but when treatment stops, the
pain usually returns fairly quickly. It emits an electronic message over only one single algorithm.

“Scrambler” therapy uses electro cutaneous nerve stimulation applied to the affected area via pads. These provide stimulation overriding the pain and creating a no pain signal along the nerve pathway. This becomes the dominant signal the brain receives changing the pain signal it had been receiving. The brain adapts to this pain-free message sending a no-pain signal back to the site using the same nerve pathway.

Repeating this 35-to-45-minute process for 5 consecutive treatments for 2 weeks (10 total treatments) can give the patient significant or total pain relief without the use of harmful narcotics or surgery. The relief can be immediate with pain diminishing in intensity and frequency after the first session and can last for months to up to a year. Booster treatments can then be administered to provide lasting ongoing pain control depending on the severity and the underlying condition. This can greatly improve the patient’s quality of life and get them off drugs and medication. This biophysical, rather than biochemical approach removes the risk factors from opioids and their addictive power.

Calmare Booster Therapy

For patients with medical conditions appropriate for Calmare Therapy, the standard treatment protocol is 10 consecutive treatments over a two-week period.

Most treatment time lasts for about 35 minutes, but every patient is unique. Depending on the severity of the original condition and the length of time the patient has been
experiencing chronic pain, periodic booster treatments may be required to combat any return of pain.

Keep in mind, many patients never need further therapy, but in more advanced stages of prolonged or severe neuropathy, a single or series of boosters can be extremely useful against an elevation of pain.

The number of booster treatments required ranges from a single session to five or more treatments.

Patients who experience a recurrence of pain should document when the pain returns, subsides and what environmental issues were involved (stress, weather conditions, excessive use of the affected area) or if there was no specific cause for the elevation of pain.
